Just thought I would give a quick update. I haven't posted any paintings lately because I'm in the process of moving. Not just accross town, but to a different state. I'm hoping to have my easel set back up by the end of the year. Hoping to post some new paintings after the first of the year. Wishing safe and happy holidays to all.

"Rain" 6" x 6" oil
(click here to bid) or to check other auctions.
I didn't realize how hard it was to draw an umbrella with crayons. I tried several colors, sizes and shapes. I started stressing out and my hand got stuck to the paper and folded the corner. I then taped it up to a wall outside for the best light, heard thunder and then...............you guessed it.......................RAIN.

"Silly Duck Tape" 4" x 4" oil
(click here to bid) or to check other auctions.
If any of you have kids you know how popular silly bands are. For those of you that don't know what they are, they are like rubber bands in all sorts of shapes. Kids wear multiples of these on their wrists and trade them. This one happens to be a duck. This little guy must have just stepped out of the water because a water drop just fell from his bill.......

"Drop" 7" x 5" oil

This one has just about everything I like to paint in it. Glass, water, and shadows. Had to paint this one quick before the water drop ran down the wall.............

"A Hole in the Ace" 7" x 5" oil

Here's another trompe l'oeil painting. This one was really fun. This is not an Ace in the hole, but "A Hole in the Ace".

"Lucky 7 - Monopoly" 4" x 4" oil
(click here to bid) or to check other auctions.
Here's a close up view of a dice on a Monopoly board. It's on one of the corners. Quick, do you know which one?

"Ice Blue - Marble & Glass" 8" x 8" oil
(click here to bid) or to check other auctions.
This composition was fun to set up. The blue comes from a little food coloring in the water that's in the glass. The marble is actually clear, but with all of the refractions and reflections it is filled with color.

I kept this one a little loose and also let some of the toned underpainting peek through.

"Lemon Slice with Half" 5" x 7" oil

Cool lighting on this. Back light on the slice, direct light and reflected light on the half.

"Smokey Mountain View" 4" x 4" acrylic
(click here to bid) or to check other auctions.
Here's a painting of a view in the Smokey Mountains. If you haven't been there I would suggest you visit. For those of you that live in the Western U.S. you might not think these are mountains but it's what we have here in the east. I never get tired of looking at them and as you look farther in the distance each layer turns a lighter shade of blue and kind of looks "smokey".

"Barn Near Triune, TN" 6" x 6" acrylic on panel
(click here to bid) or to check other auctions.
Here's a painting of a barn near Triune, TN. Triune is a really small town in middle Tennessee. Another thing that's close to Triune is the castle that's in the Taylor Swift "Love Story" video. It's a private residence that they let them use in the video.

"Colored Marbles Refracted" 8" x 8" oil on canvas panel
(click here to bid) or to check other auctions.
I really like how objects refract in glass. In this case going through the clear marble actually flips the image upside down and reverses it.

"Red Barn on Sunny Day" oil sketch 4" x 4"
(click here to bid) or to check other auctions.
Here's another little oil sketch. It's a 4" x 4" oil on hardboard panel. Love the color of blue in the sky on a sunny, low humidity day.
ENJOY!
"Water Glass w/ Lemon oil sketch" 4" x 4" oil
(click here to bid) or to check other auctions.
Here's another little 4" x 4" oil sketch. I'm working on several of these in a square format. I'm planning on picking some of them for larger paintings. I'm working on composition and color with these little ones.

"Two Roses" 4" x 4" oil on hardboard panel
(click here to bid) or to check other auctions.
This one is done in black and white oil paint only. Some of the umberish color you see is some of the underpainting coming through.
ENJOY!
"Strawberries" 4" x 4" oil on hardboard panel
(click here to bid) or to check other auctions.
Here's another looser style painting. Again I toned the board on this one too.
ENJOY!
"Orchid" 4" x 4" oil on hardboard panel
(click here to bid) or to check other auctions.
In these next few posts I loosened up a bit. I wanted to leave the brush strokes more visible than I usually do. I also toned the boards with burnt umber/ultramarine blue mix before I started painting. I'm pretty happy with the way these turned out.

"Old Tree in Smokey Mountains" 8" x 8" acrylic
(click here to bid) or to check other auctions.
Here's an old tree that I saw on a trail in the Smokey Mountains last summer. I was digging through some photos I took and this one jumped out at me so I had to paint it. This painting is acrylic on canvas panel.

"Trees in Summer" 8" x 10" acrylic
(click here to bid) or to check other auctions.
I wanted to loosen up on this and explore the use of more color. If you look close there's some blues, purples and other colors splashed throughout. I'm pretty happy with the way this one turned out. This one is an 8" x 10" acrylic on canvas panel. I think I'm going to try to go larger on some of these landscape paintings too.

Here's another trompe l'oeil drawing. I really enjoyed doing this one. Is "holed it" what's happening with the golf ball or what I did to the picture?

This is the first mango I've ever painted. Not sure why I haven't painted one of these before. I really like all of the different colors in this. You'll probably see more of these from me.

"Clear Marble no. 3" 4" x 4" oil SOLD
SOLD
(click here to bid) or to check other auctions.
This post is showing two different paintings of the same subject. One is a 4" x 4" oil on hardboard(straight on image) and the other is a micro painting on a wood block(the other two images). I'm offering these two together on ebay. The micro painting is a nice compliment to the larger painting.
About the micro painting: This is a micro painting on a wood block. It is intended to be displayed on a table, desk or wall shelf. This art is different than other art you may purchase. This is intended to be picked up and held to get a better look. It's a great conversation piece and a nice compliment to the larger painting. All sides are painted in a corresponding color and it is protected with clear coating for durability.

Here's an oil painting done in black and white. It's quite a bit larger than most of the paintings I do. It's a 20" x 16" oil on canvas. It was kind of fun to get the bigger brushes out.

"Pepsi Can" micro art 1" x 1" acrylic on wood
Here's a piece of "micro" art. It is an acrylic painting on a 1" square wood block. I've included a quarter in one of the photos for size reference so you can see how small this actually is. This art is different than other art in that this is intended to be picked up and looked at. It can be displayed on a table, desk or wall shelf. It's a great conversation piece. It is painted on all sides and protected with a clear finish for durability.

"Three Kisses" 5" x 7" graphite pencil
(click here to bid) or to check other auctions.
Here's a pencil drawing of three kisses. I tried to show some depth in this by keeping the kisses in the background at varying degrees of focus. I found it's harder than you think by drawing items out of focus.

"Disconnected" 10" x 8" graphite
(click here to bid) or to check other auctions.
Remember back when we were kids and you stayed connected with your friends by visiting them or talking on the phone, (real or the cup and string method) mostly visiting them. Now we have the internet(facebook, email, etc) and cell phones for texting. Has all of this technology really made us more connected? We sit in front of our computer screens or stare at our cell phone while texting instead of actually calling or visiting someone. I think maybe, instead of connecting us more, in a way all of this has actually made us a little more "Disconnected".

"Framed - Green Apple" 14" x 11" oil
(click here to bid) or to check other auctions.
This is a trompe l'oeil painting. (French for 'deceive the eye') is an art technique involving extremely realistic imagery in order to create the optical illusion that the depicted objects appear in three dimensions, instead of actually being a two-dimensional painting.
It's kind of cool how the frame and apple look like they are floating in front of the wall.
